Laws of Growth
The Law of INtentionality
In John C. Maxwell’s book “The 15 Invaluable Laws Of Growth” he points out the obvious, “Growth doesn’t just happen.” But how many people are really consciously aware of this? In a world where we get bombarded with information, advertisements, apps, and the many other things that would take our attention away from the area in life that we would most want to develop, how good are we at personally growing? To be intentional, we must first have a direction we intend on going. What good is a compass if you don’t know where you want to go, right? I will venture to say that most people I’ve met in life are not happy with where they’re at, wether career, financial, family, relationships, etc. So what can we do to change it? Glad you asked. To change the world we live in, we must first change the person we are. The truth is, our personal reality is greatly influenced by our personality. One might say they are subject to what happens in life, when another might see that life actually happens for him, to grow. To grow in personality, often times one must change the perception of their personal reality. So one must grow to change who they are, but one must know who they are to intentionally grow. It’s a process, but begin with this wisdom about direction. A wise old timer said “if you don’t know where you’re going in life, you probably ain’t going to like where you end up.” So once you figure out a direction that you yourself have chosen, knowing that is a place you would truly like to go, what then? To go on a journey, one must first set sail. To run a marathon, one must first take a step in the direction of the finish line. An old saying comes to mind as I write this post, “the road to hell is paved with good intentions.” To me this is talking about positive intentions without action, which could lead to a life of regret, or an uninspired or un-created life, called hell. No one wants to look back on their life and ask what if…? So ask it now. What if? What if you lived the law of intention, found a direction, and progressed towards it? Happy indeed is the person in the process of achievement. If for no other reason, instead of adding years to your life, why not add life to your years? Youthful or wise, no one knows how much time we have left, as the only time we can be certain of, is now. Take advantage of it, while you live here. Now, is the only place in time that matters. So live with intentionality so you can better your reality, warp speed. May you live happy and free.
